On October 15 2016 at 12:30 in the game of the 8th matchday of the English Premier League Chelsea host Leicester at the Stamford Bridge.
Leicester are definitely not that same team we saw in the previous season. They do not get points in the games with the favorites, they are not as reliable in defense, as they used to be. The leaders of the team are not in their best conditions. Consequently, the results are not satisfying for the fans. A few new players joined the team during the transfer window, yet they need some time to get used to the new championship and new squad.
For now, Leicester don’t look like the champions of England, they look like the middle peasants of it. They showed more or less solid performance in the games against Burnley and Swansea, but they can hardly gain any points in the games against top clubs. We must also admit that the Foxes lost all of their three away games played this season.
At the start of the season Chelsea won their games just because they were lucky or due to the wonderful performance of Diego Costa. The games against Liverpool and Arsenal showed that something should be changed immediately. So Antonio Conte changed the formation of the team to 3:5:2 and Chelsea started to play much better. The defense and the attack became more balanced and the result of the game was satisfying, they won 0:2.
Not long ago the teams played in the Football League Cup and Chelsea won 2:4. We can’t say that the results of that game are significant, as the teams didn’t play with their main squads and Leicester obviously didn’t want to take part in that tournament. They are likely to concentrate on their participation in the Champions League. Of course, they won’t be conversing their strength in the forthcoming game, yet they are definitely going to keep in mind the fact that they will have to play in the international competition next week.
Chelsea definitely need to win the game to continue their race for the Champions League zone and for becoming champions. Moreover, they are going to play on Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea usually show wonderful performance. Leicester won only one away game against the Blues of their 10 games played and it was in 2000. We shouldn’t also forget about the wonderful conditions of the main forward of Chelsea Diego Costa, who will probably score at least once. All of these facts show that Chelsea are very likely to win the forthcoming game.
