How To Do A Backflip On Skis

We have all heard of skiing before and some of us have tried skiing while others have made skiing one of their hobbies or are taking the activity more serious. Besides from mastering the slopes of going down double black diamond hills at record speeds there are a lot of different tricks that you can do while you are skiing. One of the most popular tricks you can do on skies is the back flip. Although it sounds very hard, it is pretty easy to master. Today, we will go over a step by step guide on how you can perform the backflip on skis.

Performing the Back Flip

1) To start, you will want to make sure you know what your body is doing before you even attempt to try to perform a flip. To do this the best ways to practice doing a back flip is on a trampoline or off a high diving board at a local pool that has one meter or more springboard. With the diving board, start by standing backwards on the board with your heels at the end of the board. Jump straight up and then bring your knees up and look up at the same time. Keep looking up, and you’ll see the water. Once you see the water, you can open up your legs to land downwards.

2) Using the trampoline method, its best to go to a gymnastic center that has trampolines and getting a certified coach to teach you how to perform a backflip because they have the knowledge and skills to teach you safely. The instructor will also be able to spot you on your first attempts till you get the hang of it. Also, practice doing knee drops, backdrops, and backdrops. Try doing backdrops and rolling backwards rolling your feet backwards. Keep your arms above your shoulders to protect your head and neck. When you are comfortable with rolling backwards, you can bounce off your back into landing upright position. Make sure you roll over backwards and aren’t rolling to the side. The key to flipping backwards is to keep your head and body straight up and down and not to look over your shoulders. Make sure you don’t whip your head back right at the start where this is new with beginners but if you do this on your skies it won’t go well. Try to focus on one spot on the trampoline till you get the move down properly.

3) When you are comfortable with doing a back flips on the trampoline or the diving board and are landing in the feet first position you can then transition over to your skies. The safest place to learn a back flip on your skies is a jump with an airbag. If an airbag isn’t available, you should try to concentrate on a water ramp.

4) To get used to the jump try doing either spins or straight line jumps. To try to the jump using an airbag or water ramp look up and bring your knees straight your chest while looking up and behind you while leaning back. Use what you learned from the trampoline or diving board in your back flip.

Conclusion

Now that you have the steps down to doing a back fillip using your skies you should be able to do these back flips in no time flat. Just remember the steps you learned today and if you can get the help of a certified gymnast to learn the backflip on the trampoline. Always remember that when you practice these steps to perfect your back flip that your safety should come first. Good Luck!
