Malaga and Espanyol will play their match of the 18th round of the Spanish Primera on January, 8th. Bookmakers are on the future hosts’ side in this couple, but leave decent chances on success for the future guests as well. The upcoming match will be the first one for Malaga in 2018, while Espanyol already managed to have one match, which ended unfortunately, though.
After 17 rounds in Primera, Malaga managed to gain 11 points, which allow the team to be situated on the 19th position in the table. The gap to the saving 17th place is four points. The Anchovies lost to Alaves and Betis, had a draw with Levante and defeated Real Sociedad within the last four games. All-in-all, Malaga have had eight matches at their home ground, in which they got two victories with two draws and four defeats.
Espanyol concluded the year 2017 with a draw against Las Palmas and a victory over Atletico, 1:0, which became a bit of a sensation. Espanyol already had one match in 2018 against Levante within the cup of Spain at their home ground and lost 1:2. Espanyol are situated on the 15th position in Spanish championship tournament table with 20 points in the asset, plus five-point handicap over Deportivo and the relegation zone.
Malaga cannot lose the forthcoming game, while Espanyol wouldn’t mind having a draw and even one point even suffice for the Catalans strategically. Malaga have some squad problems, but that should not prevent the Anchovies from achieving the acceptable result.
Prediction for the match: Malaga not to lose
