Clash of two sides who still need points to avoid involvement in relegation battle.
Sao Paulo take on the visitors Cruzeiro in the round 25 match of Brazilian Serie A. The match will be played at Morumbi Stadium on Friday, September 16th.
Sao Paulo are in ambiguous conditions and show quite inconsistent results in past couple of month. They couldn’t take two back-to-back wins and alternate mainly draws and defeats. Cruzeiro, in turn, had poor start of the season but they managed to improve results and had been unbeaten for seven matches until the loss to Botafogo on the previous matchday. Moreover, that seven-match run included five wins and allowed Cruzeiro to leave relegation zone. Now the team is on 14th position in the league with 29 points but only two points above the drop line.
Sao Paulo have slight advantage in the head-to-heads with Cruzeiro and won the reverse fixture earlier this season, 1-0. It’s hard to pick a favorite in this match but the game should be quite eventful as both teams consider this match as a good chance to gain some points and maintain handicap from the relegation zone.
