On October 10 2016 at 19:45 in the regular game of the 2018 World Cup qualification at the Friends Arena Sweden play against Bulgaria.
Sweden didn’t fulfill the expectations of the fans during the previous competition. On the group stage of the Euro 2016 in France they drew Ireland 1:1, lost to Italy 1:0 and Belgium 0:1. As a result they only gained one point and didn’t make it to the play-offs of the competition. In the current qualification for the World Cup 2018 Sweden shared the points with Netherlands 1:1 and the first round and after that won against the outsiders of the competition Luxembourg 0:1.
Even though Bulgaria were trying their best to make it to the final part of the international forum in France, they still didn’t manage to succeed. After 10 games played they gained 11 points and took the 4th place in the standings, which didn’t let them make it to the Euros in France. In the first game of the current qualification of the World Cup Sweden won against Luxembourg 4:3 and in the second game they lost to France with devastating 4:1.
Sweden won five of the last five games played between the teams. last time they met in 2005 and Sweden won 3:0. Of course, the hosts are the obvious favorites of the forthcoming game and everybody is expecting them to win confidently.
